Ingredients of Kashmiri Chai

  1. You need 4 tbsp of Kashmiri/Green tea.
  2. You need 8 cups of ice cold water.
  3. You need of Cardamom according to own taste.
  4. You need 1/2 tbsp of baking soda.
  5. It's 1/4 tsp of salt.

Garnished with crushed nuts, Kashmiri Chai is known for its stunning pink color with a hint of salt & cardamom. Kashmiri Chai is a traditional milky tea from the region of Kashmir. Unlike most teas, this tea is made with the addition of sea salt, giving it a savory punch. The chai itself has a pinkish hue to it.

Kashmiri Chai step by step

  1. Add tea and 3 cups water to a cooking pot and bring to a boil.
  2. When it comes to a boil add baking soda and salt.
  3. Keep boiling on high flame till the tea reduces to 1 cup level. Then add another 2 cups ice cold water and boil on high flame.
  4. Keep boiling again till the tea reduces to 1 cup then add 3 cups ice cold water and boil.
  5. Keep boiling till the tea reduces to around 1 cup and your tea should be ready.
  6. Strain the tea out.
  7. You can refrigerate for up to one week.
  8. For one cup tea you can add minimum 1 tbsp tea or extra according to taste.
  9. First boil the milk with sugar according to taste then add tea according to taste.
  10. Cut up almonds and pistachios and add to the tea for flavour.
